Discover The Three Bubble Houses
The Three Bubble Houses offers a luxurious getaway in Kanchanaburi where you can enjoy nature without giving up comfort. These bubbles sit by the peaceful Kwai Noi river, offering three different types to pick from. The Bubble Tree House is the most “basic” one, surrounded by green bamboo and a view of the river with majestic mountains as backdrop. Then there’s the Bubble River House, right on the water, giving great views but maybe not the most comfortable for sleeping with the movement of the river beneath you. The newest addition is the Bubble Beach House, also known as the pink bubble. This one comes with a butler and a private beach for movie nights. And yes, everything in and around this bubble will be different shades of pink!
Our Bubble Tree House
We stayed the night at the Bubble Tree House to ensure a restful sleep, as we weren’t sure about sleeping directly on the river. We heard of people getting a little motion-sickness, so we went for the safer option. Let us tell you right away, our bubble was absolutely stunning! It featured a private jacuzzi, two comfy beanbags, air conditioning inside of the bubble, a lovely decor, and a bathroom. They didn’t miss a beat – there was a handwritten welcome note, chilled water in a cooler, and even mosquito repellent! And as if that wasn’t enough, we were offered an extra room in case it got too warm inside the bubble or if we had trouble sleeping. How thoughtful is that! We used this private room to store our luggage so that our bubble space was squeaky clean. The staff at The Three Bubble Houses really thinks of everything.
Our experience at The Three Bubble Houses
We both agree: this was our most romantic and magical stay yet. Words fail to capture the beauty! One night felt far too short, we easily could have stayed for several more. There’s nothing quite like sleeping under the stars and waking up to the sunrise and birdsong. Thysia had tears in her eyes the whole time. 🥹 It’s a truly enchanting experience, perfect for unwinding and reconnecting with nature. We highly recommend this accommodation to anyone seeking a unique and romantic getaway!
Now, onto the burning question: the price. Let us warn you, this was our priciest night ever at € 186,57. But trust us, it was worth every penny. We’d book it again in a heartbeat! To make sure you get the best deal, we’ve included links from both booking.com and agoda, since we know these can fluctuate quite a lot.
And finally, about the location: The Three Bubble Houses is somewhat remote, but fear not, we’ll tell you all about how to get here. Other than that, did we say that a scrumptious breakfast is included? You’ll get plenty of things, like a tasty fried egg with sausage and bacon, wonton soup, a fresh fruit salad, tea or coffee, fresh orange juice,… you name it! You can also dine at The Three Bubble Houses here for an extra fee. They offer a range of options, from hotpot to classic Thai dishes. And if you’re in the mood for a drink, they’ve got cocktails, wine, and beer on offer too. Every reason not to leave your bubble!
How to get to The Three Bubble Houses
The Three Bubble Houses is somewhat remote, but still fairly easy to reach. It’s located in Sai Yok, in the province of Kanchanaburi. You have multiple options to get there, depending on your budget and how much comfort you need. Since most people will be coming from Bangkok or neighboring cities, we’ll focus on how to reach The Three Bubble Houses from Bangkok.
The fastest way
The fastest and most comfortable way is taking a taxi from Bangkok to Nam Tok Sai Yok. This ride will take around 3 hours, but expect to pay big bucks. If you’re traveling with big luggage, or you absolutely need your comfort, then this is the way to go. You’ll lose the least amount of time, and maybe you can even persuade your chauffeur to stop at some picturesque places along the way!
The cheapest way
The next approach is ideal for backpackers, or people that are strapped for cash. It will take you a little more time, yes, but in return you get a happy wallet! If you decide to do it the cheapest way, expect some stopovers along the way. The first step into reaching The Three Bubble Houses is taking a train from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. Be careful! The train to Kanchanaburi does not leave from Bangkok’s main station (Hua Lamphong), but from the station in Thonburi. This means you’ll first have to figure out how to get to Thonburi.
Once you arrive at the train station in Thonburi, you can buy a 100 THB (€ 2,57) ticket to Kanchanaburi. This ride will take around 2.5 hours and is known for being one of Thailand’s most peaceful train rides. Make sure to get a seat by the window to enjoy the scenery!
From Kanchanaburi, it’ll take you another 2 hours to reach the station of Nam Tok. This is your final stop! To reach The Three Bubble Houses from Nam Tok train station, it is another 10-minute ride or 45-minute walk.
All in all, this route should take you a little under 5 hours and cost you no more than € 10. We also want to mention that you might be able to take a direct train from Bangkok to Nam Tok, although this train (number 909) only runs on Saturdays and Sundays. If you’re planning to visit on the weekend, this might be a great option! Make sure to check the timetable for this train.
The best of both worlds
We’re all for saving money, but sometimes convenience outweighs the cost! The approach we took to reach this beautiful accommodation was a combination of both cost-savings, and a (pretty cheap) taxi ride. Let us tell you how!
We first booked a shared minivan ride from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi. Don’t think that this will break the bank! Shared minivan rides in Thailand are actually great value for money, especially if you travel to or from a major hub like Bangkok. Prices per person for a spot in the minivan start at € 3, not too pricey if you ask us. The ride to Kanchanaburi will take around 3 hours, you also get a pretty comfortable seat in an airconditioned minivan. If you’re traveling with big luggage, then make sure to check the conditions of the booking! They might charge extra if your luggage takes up a whole seat on the van, in which case you’ll have to buy an extra ticket. This wasn’t the case with us, though, luggage went in the front (behind the driver).
Then, from Kanchanaburi we ordered a ride on Thailand’s wellknown ridesharing app, called Grab. We tried Bolt first, as it tends to be a little cheaper, but it was not available in this area. We know what you’re thinking: this must’ve been crazy expensive! Well, not really. The fare in the app was 570 THB (€ 14,67), which amounts to less than € 7,50 each! The ride took 50 minutes, and the driver dropped us off exactly at The Three Bubble Houses.
All things considered, we think this is the best approach. It takes around the same time as ordering an expensive (private) taxi ride, at a fraction of the cost. We felt really happy about the whole experience. We saved money by going on a shared ride, and had the comfort and peace of mind to reach our final destination. Win-win in our books!
For your convenience, we added a little widget below so that you can find the best minivan deal if you decide to do it this way!
