Discover High View Homestay
High View Homestay is a beautiful homestay in Kandy, managed by the hospitable Namal and his family. From the moment you arrive they will make you feel at home, something we really find important. You can really tell they love what they do, which should come as no surprise since they have been doing it for over 8 years!
The place has 4 rooms, which means you are bound to meet other people! That being said, the communal balcony and living room provide an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow travelers. We highly suggest you take advantage of it! We met a great couple from Denmark, and a very sweet girl from Slovakia. It was so cool to talk for a while and listen to everyone’s stories! Whilst socializing is one big part of the communal areas, we really think it’s not the best it has to offer.
There’s an even bigger advantage of the communal balcony, and that is: the views! 😍 They are absolutely magical, especially during sunset. Make sure to find out when the sun sets (or just ask the hosts), and make yourself comfortable. In addition to this, there’s also a refrigerator available so you can enjoy the spectacular views with some refreshingly cold drinks. Such a rare feat in the Sri Lankan heat!
The rooms
Our room at High View Homestay was super comfy and clean. We can honestly say that it is among the best we’ve experienced during our time in Sri Lanka! It had lots of space and everything we needed to unwind after a day of exploring.
The best part was the private balcony, where we could see the mountains and enjoy stunning sunsets. A communal balcony is really nice, but who can say no to a date night on your own balcony with an amazing sunset as backdrop? They even had a mosquito net and A/C, so we slept soundly without any bugs bothering us or waking up all sweaty. Plus, the bathroom was spotless and had hot water and a hair dryer – a rare luxury in our Sri Lankan travels. Couldn’t recommend it more!

High View Homestay offers exceptional value for money, with our two-night stay priced at less than € 50. Another thing that stuck with us were the hosts. They made sure our stay was nothing short of exceptional! From offering local recommendations to arranging transportation, rest assured they will make you feel right at home. And let’s not forget about the breakfast – a great mix of local delights and “Western classics”. All of this accompanied with a great pot of tea, of course! Really nothing bad to say about it, so that’s why we wanted to share it with all of you. 🤩
If you’re planning a trip to Kandy, we highly recommend booking a stay here. For us, High View Homestay definitely is one of the most memorable places we’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka! We loved every single moment of our two nights stay here, we only wished they lasted longer.
