Habibi Hostel is a beautiful hostel in Unawatuna, located just a short walk from Unawatuna Beach. Offering both private rooms and dormitories, it caters to all types of travelers. This means that you are bound to meet other people during your time here, something we really like. The real gem at Habibi Hostel is undoubtedly the rooftop terrace, spread across two floors, providing amazing views of the surroundings. Surrounded by palm trees and wildlife, like monkeys and squirrels, it’s a real gem. Just take a seat on the rooftop terrace and look around you, we guarantee you will like what you see!
Habibi Hostel also has a restaurant, which makes this rooftop terrace the perfect place to enjoy your meal. Amazing music, spectacular views, and delicious food. What more could you possibly want? Since the staff are all from the Middle East, you’ll get to order some tasty Mediterranean and Arabic dishes like shawarma and falafel. It’s a delicious change from the usual Sri Lankan cuisine. We tried both of the signature dishes, and we can tell you: they were soooo good!
The rooms
We opted for a private double room during our stay, and it was an absolute gem! Spacious, spotless, and bright, it offered everything we could ask for in accommodation. The highlight was undoubtedly the private balcony, where we could soak in stunning views and unwind on comfy hanging chairs. The attention to detail is just phenomenal!
But let’s talk about the bathroom – it was a game-changer. We had our own private bathroom, and it was nothing short of luxurious. With a shielded shower providing excellent water pressure and the ultimate luxury of hot water, it was a delightful surprise. Gone are the days of showering 10 cm away from the toilet, or having a completely wet bathroom after you shower! You really start to admire the little things when you’re away for some time.
All jokes aside, after days of traveling Sri Lanka it was such a blessing to have all this comfort. We didn’t have to worry about whether we’d have hot water or not, what a relief. And with a room as spacious as this, we had all the time and room in the world to just: relax! Enough space to store our backpacks without feeling like the room is a mess, with a balcony to enjoy a cozy evening together. Habibi Hostel really gave us the perfect ending to our Sri Lankan trip. This amazing accommodation provided us with even fonder memories of our time in this beautiful country.
Our experience at Habibi Hostel
Our stay at Habibi Hostel was simply fantastic. While it might not offer the same unique experience as sleeping among rice fields, it more than makes up for it with its overall excellence. The spacious and spotless rooms, along with the outstanding bathroom featuring a heavenly shower and hot water, made for a truly comfortable stay. The private balcony and serene rooftop added an extra touch of relaxation to our time here. With delicious food readily available and a friendly staff always at hand, we couldn’t have asked for more. Though not the cheapest option at € 31 per night for our 2-night stay, the comfort and convenience were well worth the price. Plus, at just € 15 per person per night, it still remains incredibly affordable. Habibi Hostel truly offers everything you need for an unforgettable vacation in Unawatuna! We can’t wait to come back.
